Volunteer Coaching

Banks County Parks and Recreation Department offers numerous team sports opportunities for youth between the ages of 4-14, and we are always seeking high-quality, energetic volunteers to coach these teams.  Volunteers are the backbone of our youth programs, and securing coaches in advance of a season is of great necessity when organizing these leagues.  Becoming a coach is simple, however, there are some small, but very important preliminary actions to consider.

After speaking with a recreation department staff member regarding the sport which you are interested in coaching to determine if openings exist, it is essential that each potential coach complete a coaching application.  These applications may be obtained at BCPRD Rec. Center or from this website.

All volunteer coaches (head and assistant) must also authorize BCPRD to conduct a criminal background check.  This helps us ensure that these young athletes are under the best supervision.  First-time head coaches and assistant coaches must complete a coaching application and a background check before having any contact with a youth sports team.  Coaches will be required to complete a background check every year. Please come with your driver's license so we can make a copy.

Coaching applications may be returned to BCPRD in person, via postal mail, email, or fax.  Background check forms must be filled out in the presence of a BCPRD staff member.  There will be no charge to the volunteer coach for a background check. Once these obligations have been fulfilled, the parks and recreation department will be in contact with you to provide all pertinent information regarding registration details, team rosters, practice schedules, game schedules, uniforms, etc.  Forms may be dropped off at the Rec. Center or emailed to Director, Kat Roberts at Kroberts.co.banks.ga.us
