Residential Building Permits
What do I need?
All new construction residential buildings will require a residential building permit, a plumbing permit, an electrical permit, and a mechanical permit. Our Residential Building Permit Application includes all of these. Residential renovations or additions also require a building permit and a permit for any changes to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical services as well. If you are just making changes to your electric, plumbing, or mechanical service, you will need a stand-alone permit application for each of those. Once a permit is issued, certain inspections will need to be made to verify that code requirements have been met during construction of the building. Inspections are the same for new construction and renovations or additions. Homeowners are allowed to perform their own construction if they provide a signed affidavit (see FAQ).
