Application for Service

Resident must offer proof of inability to pay for own representation. This is accomplished by submitting the application form below. Once the form is completed and provided to the public defender’s office, it will be reviewed. Based on the information provided, a determination will be made as to meeting the needs of a public defender. At this point, a defender will be assigned and will notify the resident.

Please come to the office of the Circuit Public Defender to complete an application form to apply for a court-appointed attorney. You must bring a $50 money order to pay the application fee (see notice of application fee below) and proof of income when you come to apply. If you are unable to pay the application fee, you may request a waiver of the fee by completing a “Motion for Application of Fee Waiver”.
