Polling Location, Setup and Operations

As an Election Day worker, you are a vital link between the Board of Elections and Registration and the voting public we serve. Your courteousness, attentiveness and commitment during the long Election Day at the polls are critical to the success of conducting the election. The BOER thanks you for your participation in providing the voters of Banks County a fair, legal and pleasant voting experience.

The Georgia Secretary of State has prepared a video to help poll workers provide a safe and secure election environment for all voters. Subjects include:

  • Precinct location maintenance
  • Voter accessibility
  • Setup of the voting space
  • Signage
  • Disability etiquette
  • Provisional voting
  • Procedures for opening and closing the polls

Requirements to be Poll Worker

In order to be a poll worker, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Banks County. 
  • Be at least 16 years of age. 
  • Be able to read, write, and speak the English language. 
  • Not have been convicted of a felony in the past 10 years.
  • Not holding a public office or be a candidate for a public office. 
  • Not serve in an election where an immediate relative is either an elected official or a candidate for public office.

If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, please contact the Banks County Board of Elections and Registration (BOER) Office at (706) 677-6260 during normal business hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The BOER conducts training sessions for new poll workers at the Banks County Board of Elections & Registration Office,  226 Candler Street, Homer, GA., normally within 30 days of every primary or election. For dates and times please contact the BOER Office.
